People Management in Education 2023
To provide high quality education and create public value, teachers and other educational employees are vital assets for educational organizations (schools, universities, etc.). However, educational organizations are facing challenges in people management such as staff shortages, increased workloads, and other risks for employee's well-being and motivation. Moreover, schools are confronted with calls for more accountability, transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness, and simultaneously draw attention to continuous organizational development. Questions about the impact of these challenges and developments on educational organizations and their employees, and their implications for managing people in schools, colleges, and universities remain largely unanswered.
Even though there is a growing community of scholars that are committing themselves to studying people management in education, there are only little networks or conferences that unite these scholars. In response to this, in 2018 People Management in Education was founded by researchers from Utrecht University, Tilburg University, and Ghent University uniting researchers studying people management in education in a broad sense. The small-scale conference allows to elicit academic discussion, provide opportunities for learning and knowledge expansion, get to know researchers in the field and expand your network.
Given the success of the previous editions (Tilburg 2018; Utrecht 2019), and after a short corona-intermission, we proudly announce that the third edition of “People Management in Education” will be held in Utrecht (Het Oude Tolhuys) on November 16th, 2023.
During this conference, researchers in the field of HRM, people management, public management, personnel management, educational sciences, leadership, and related fields are invited to present their latest work, research findings, and research proposals in the area of people management in education. We welcome researchers studying various educational sectors, from primary to higher education. The goal is to share the latest research findings and ideas and strengthen the interdisciplinary network of scholars in this field.
